Some people paint the town red. If you asked Joel Makower, he would probably tell you he prefers to paint it green. While Makower expresses optimism and trepidation about the process of greening mainstream business, this “guru of green business practices" (so dubbed by the Associated Press), thinks the next decade will bring “innumerable whodathunk moments” in that process. Co-founder and chairman of Greener World Media, Makower is executive editor of GreenBiz.com. He has helped a wide range of companies improve their environmental strategy and communications, among them G.M., Hewlett Packard, Nike, and Procter & Gamble. He also advises early-stage companies focusing on environmentally sustainable products and services.
He joins this year’s Forum to offer his thoughts on how a new breed of green innovators are transforming markets and to discuss the strategies leading companies use to harness green thinking and to create business value. He shared his assessment this process with HSM in The Green Business Decade in Review.
